AIGA DFW Community Meeting

AIGA DFW Community Meetings are free and open to everyone in the design community. Whether you are a long-time member or new to the area, you're invited to come meet fellow designers, hear from two unique speakers, learn about program updates and chapter happenings, and participate in planning the future. You'll even have an opportunity to share your own news, announce job openings, and ask questions during our open floor.

For this Fall edition of our Community Meeting, we have some special events added to the agenda. First, we’ll be inviting you to participate in planning our next season, so bring your ideas on what is and isn't working for the local design community, along with what you want to see in the future.

We are also excited to hear from two guest speakers who will be sharing insights on their relationship with design: Bekah Shamsa, Creative Director at Corgan, and Gia Kirk, Vice President of the AIGA UTD Student Group.

Bekah Shamsa, Creative Director at Corgan

After graduating from CalArts in 2002 with a BFA in graphic design, Bekah started her career in Los Angeles working on music videos, various branding and print jobs, and with broadcast clients including HGTV, Spike, FX, E!, and Discovery. She returned to her native Texas and is now a Creative Director with Corgan MediaLab. Outside of design, Bekah indulges her creativity through murals, weaving, ceramics, photography, and illustration.

Gia Kirk, Vice President of the AIGA UTD Student Group

Gia is a senior majoring in Design and Production with a minor in Biology at the University of Texas at Dallas. Her focus is on combining UX design and 3D Modeling to visually communicate scientific knowledge. Gia served as the Programming Director and is now the Vice President of the AIGA student group at UTD. She enjoys meeting new people, working on impactful projects for the community, working out, and being creative through design and art.

So reserve your seat today and join us at Good Coworking at 6pm for some light refreshments and socializing before our meeting officially starts at 7pm. We look forward to seeing you there!

Getting There

Good Coworking is the first coworking space in the nation focused on inclusive sustainability and wellness for small businesses, impact organizations and creatives, powered by solar. Their purpose is to model and grow a responsible business culture that has a net positive impact on the world. They are housed in a LEED Gold certified 1950s warehouse that is filled with light, plants, fitness space, and a variety of healthy spaces to help you get your best work done.

If you’re driving, you can park in the Good Coworking front parking lot outside the metal gate on S Good Latimer or parallel park along the street.

If you’re taking the DART Rail, Good Coworking is about a half mile from the Deep Ellum Station (Orange Line) and the Cedars Station (Blue & Red Lines). The Deep Ellum Station is easier to walk from as it is on the same road just due south, two blocks past the bridge. It’s about a 15 minute walk.

Please check online for the latest DART Bus routes. There is a bus stop a door down from Good Coworking.
