Tips & Tricks for Lettering Logotypes

In the world of tech-sans-boringness, handcrafted logotype is a glorious way to add unique flair to your branding projects. Type designer Scott Biersack is joining us from Arizona to share tips and tricks for improving your skills, including exercises and critique that will ensure you level-up your custom type work. Dive deep into nuanced tailoring for logotypes, focusing on proportion, expansion, translation, common problem areas, vectoring tips, and even interpolation – “Because why not,” says Scott. This workshop is built to guide designers of all skill levels to improvement.

What To Bring:

  • Pencil(s)

  • Tracing Paper

  • Tombow Brush Pen

  • Zig Calligraphy Marker or Chisel Sharpie

  • Additional scripting tools you enjoy

  • Ruler (if you so choose)

  • Laptop (for vectoring, unless you prefer to focus solely on hand skills)

Scott’s work takes on whatever form is necessary to solve a problem: custom lettering, calligraphy, illustration, typeface design and beyond, he does it all.
